Dunscaith Castle is one of Skye's hidden treasures.  Crumbling atop the cliff, its moody ruins contrast against the tranquil views all around.

Take the road to Sleat in south Skye, then take the Ord turning on your right.  Follow the road all the way until it curves down to the beach, then back up the hill to Tokavaig.  The drive from Broadford to Tokavaig should take around 25 minutes.

The walk to the castle begins on the track to various houses, so remembering to park out of their way is so much appreciated.

Keep a look out for the sign saying: "Footpath to the Castle."

The walk itself should take around 20 minutes each way.

Follow the track to the left of the houses, keeping the stone wall on your right.

The path gets narrower and wetter as it heads across the moorland.

The path gets more and more indistinct, but can, for the most part, be picked out without too much difficulty.

Keep going until you get your first close-up glimpse of the castle.

The place is truly amazing for sunset weddings.

Being one of Skye's lesser-known locations, we often get the place to ourselves when photographing weddings - making it perfect for that extra bit of intimacy.
