Eloping To Skye During COVID-19 Concerns
16 March 2020

It's on everyone's minds at the moment.  The media is full of horror stories of toilet-roll hoarding and hand-sanitizer shortages.

But if you were planning on eloping to Skye then your worries might be ever so slightly different to everyone else's.

Will you still be able to get married on the island given the recent COVID-19 outbreak?

At this point, we would like to say that we are neither encouraging or discouraging you to visit.  Weddings and elopements are entirely about the couple - and whether you want to travel given recent concerns must be your decision too.

At the time of writing, there are two confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Highlands.  A regularly-updated list can be found here.

Advice on travelling can be found here.  Many of our eloping couples come from the USA, Canada, Europe and Australia - so be sure to check the situation in your own country as flights are currently being restricted.

Symptoms so far include:

  • high fever
  • dry cough
  • shortness of breath

At the time of writing, there are no travel restrictions for visitors travelling to Scotland.  Lastly, there are a number of Scottish-specific guidelines to be found on the VisitScotland website.

However recent events ends up shaping your wedding plans, we hope you stay happy, healthy and safe.
