For the last four weeks, my lovely husband, Sean ate, slept (not much) conversed and breathed his studies to become a fully qualified drone pilot, now known as a remote pilot.

A local football team gave him permission to practice his practical flying skills in their grounds. At home, I was hearing all sorts of new terms and technical details, safety procedures, flight plans, restricted areas, rules for various weight drones! Phew!

However, all this was worth it. Having passed his theory examination last Thursday, including being invited to sit for a second, new qualification at the same time, Sean went on down to Biggar for his practical exam. He had prepared all his equipment and packed his specially designed cases perfectly. Signs, pop-up cones, high-visibility jacket, endless check lists, table, his own-design landing pad were just what the examiner wanted to see. Sean asked if he would mind if he had his coffee as he set up all his gear calmly. Even that impressed the examiner.

Now Sean is a fully-fledged Remote Pilot who will be ready to offer his own unique elopement package on our dramatic Isle of Skye.

(At least I resisted saying that he passed with flying colours!)
