Meet The Registrars

The term "Corona weddings" is being used now - and it rubs me up the wrong way.

Why should such a special day in your life be in any way defined by Covid-19?

While it's true that your plans may change (this has happened with some of our lovely clients-to-be), we know this won't prevent your day being every bit as magical as you dreamed.

Scotland is currently in Phase Two of Lockdown and we have been chatting with the lovely registrars at the Highland Council to get the latest information and give you a chance to get to know the local registrars before your big day.

Liz McNiven told us: "All Highland Registrars will be strictly adhering to any restrictions as per the guidance from Scottish Government and National Records of Scotland, as it is at the time of the ceremony, current restrictions are:

  • Outside ceremonies only
  • Maximum of eight
  • Maximum of three households
  • Social distancing throughout

"The registrar will discuss the restrictions with couples to ensure they understand and are happy to go ahead with these in mind.

"Should the restrictions in place in anyway compromise the day the couple have envisaged, the registrar will be happy to discuss rescheduling their day to a later phase of the route-map to recovery."

For more details on the laws around weddings in Scotland right now, visit our Phase Two And What It Means For Your Wedding blog here.

Here's a list of the many amazing registrars we have worked with.

Portree and Raasay Service Point:

Get in touch with Portree and Raasay if you're planning on getting married in Skye.  They cover anywhere from Duntulm Castle at the north of Skye, the Quiraing, the Old Man of Storr, right down to Sconser - and we have even worked with one of their registrars at an Eilean Donan Castle elopement when the Kyle registrar was unavailable.  They also cover the Isle of Raasay.

Meg:

For the majority of registrar-conducted weddings, we work with Meg.  We even worked with her at the Eilean Donan Castle elopement above!

Lorna:

Lorna is Assistant Registrar at the Portree office.

Anne:

Anne is based in Dunvegan and works with the Highland Council as and when she is needed.  We worked with her at a very wet Coral Beach elopement and at a Dunvegan Castle wedding!

Kenna:

We actually photographed Kenna's sister's wedding, so she has a special place in our heart!

Broadford Service Point:

Get in touch with the lovely team at Broadford if you are planning on getting married in the south of Skye.  They cover anywhere north of Sconser, including the Loch Coruisk and Elgol area.

Angela:

We have worked with Angela at a number of south Skye weddings.  She regularly heads across the water to Loch Coruisk with us.

Kyle Access Point:

Kyle is based just off the Isle of Skye in Kyle of Lochalsh.  Get in touch with the awesome team there if you're planning on eloping off the island.

Jane:

Jane is the Assistant Registrar at Kyle - and she married Norma and Sean!

Hopefully this has been helpful and allowed you to get to know who your registrar might be.  Get in touch with them as soon as you can and they will be able to walk you through the steps needed to get married.
